Xiao Mai Shan is Tea Drunk’s first Pu Er from Feng Qing in Lin Cang. Made entirely by hand from ancient tea trees more than a century old and sun-dried in the traditional manner, it shows Lin Cang’s bright, gently tannic character with smooth sweetness and a distinctive cereal-grain note.
Xiao Mai Shan expands Tea Drunk’s Pu Er sourcing into Feng Qing, part of Lin Cang—an important but stylistically distinct Yun Nan tea region. Its ancient-tree material and fully handmade, sun-dried production preserve a regional profile known for brightness, gentle tannin and sweetness.
Pristinely sweet and ultra-smooth, with bright Lin Cang structure, gentle tannin and a distinctive cereal-grain note. It is approachable while young and leaves a clean, softly sweet finish.
This is the first time we feature a pu er from the Feng Qing county of Lin Cang tea region. Sometimes also known as the western pu er region, Lin Cang in Yun Nan is known for highly bright pu er that is tannic but with lower bitterness and gently sweet. This batch is harvested from ancient tea trees over 100 years old in Xiao Mai Shan (Wheat Mountain) in the jurisdiction of Feng Qing. It’s 100% handmade and sundried using the most traditional methods. It’s pristinely sweet with ultra smooth texture and notes of cereal grain. A high quality Pu Er should be very drinkable when young - in fact, local farmers only drink young pu er, aging is a concept didn’t come around till 2003. A big part of the joy of aging tea is to experience its change, getting to know a tea as it transforms. So cherish the moment when you get to know an awesome new pu er like this one, and drink it again at 3-month or 6-month intervals to renew your appreciation.
