Tasting notes by vintage
Jin Jiao Yi — Spring 2025: Excellence that's hard to contain — as soon as hot water hits the dry leaves, even before a sip, you know it's one of the best. High clarity, poised strength, an unassuming yet powerful presence: what the famed “Golden Throne” micro-terroir promises. Its “cinnamon spice” shines with fresh cream and leaves the palate lingering with the sweetest spring water.
Tao Shu Ke — Spring 2021: Sharp and pristine, with a persistent chiming finish. Dashing with the signature assertion one loves in a Rou Gui, but with a grace and lightheartedness that frees the cultivar from its aggressive reputation.
Niu Lan Keng — Spring 2019: The crown jewel of Zheng Yan terroir. This prestigious Rou Gui delivers all the varietal has to offer with ultra-focused clarity and liveliness; as it dances on the tongue, layers upon layers of liquified rock unfold. (Labels on this vintage are discolored; the tea is unaffected.)
